Seminar jointly offered by the TEES Office of Strategic Research Development and the Texas A&M VPR Office of Proposal Development for Texas A&M System and TEES faculty on how to compete for the NSF CAREER Grant. (Faculty in College Station who were unable to attend the November CAREER seminar are welcome to attend in person.)

How to Compete for an NSF CAREER Grant

This seminar will cover how to write a competitive proposal to the NSF CAREER program, including:

v         Program and proposal requirements

v         Advice on winning strategies and how to avoid common pitfalls

v         Resources for education components

v         Discussion of how faculty from predominantly undergraduate institutions can compete for this award

v         Examples from successful proposals

v         Discussion and Q&A by TAMU System CAREER winners

 TTVN connections for the workshop are currently being set up and will be e-mailed to registered participants.

Faculty in College Station may attend in person at Wisenbaker Room 049 (in the basement). 

 

OVERVIEW of the CAREER Program: The National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program targets untenured, tenure-track faculty conducting research in areas of interest to NSF.  The grant is aimed at funding promising researchers and educators early in their careers to conduct integrated research and education projects.

Typical awards are $400,000 over 5 years (or $500,000 over 5 years for biology) with 300-400 awards expected annually.

Full proposals are due July 21 – 23, 2009, depending on discipline
